What's new at Orange City Sorosis Club's Annual Haunted House for 2026? Do you have any new rides, attractions, or special features that Haunt Seekers should know about?

For 2026, we’re expanding our multi-room walkthrough with a fresh seasonal theme that blends classic haunted house elements with new character interactions and redesigned spaces. Each year our volunteers rebuild the haunt from the ground up, and this season features updated lighting, new room transitions, and enhanced atmospheric effects that make the experience more immersive for families.

What are you most excited about for the 2026 Halloween Season?

For 2026, we’re most excited about having absolutely no limits on creativity. Our theme, Awakening Your Nightmare, opens the door to every fear imaginable, giving our volunteers the freedom to build scenes that are darker, stranger, and more immersive than ever before. This year begins with a FNAF-inspired birthday party that will quickly unravels into chaos ... the perfect gateway into a season where every nightmare is wide awake. Our brave guests have no idea what is in store for them this year!
We are looking forward to seeing the full carnage ... it is a rare season where anything can happen, and that’s exactly what makes it thrilling for us to create.

What differentiates Orange City Sorosis Club's Annual Haunted House from other local haunts in Florida?

Our haunt is entirely volunteer-built and community-driven, created by the Orange City Sorosis Club as part of our mission to support local families. We’ve been scaring our community since 1978, and every room is handcrafted with care rather than relying on commercial sets. We focus on being family-friendly while still delivering genuine scares, making us a unique blend of tradition, creativity, and community spirit. All proceeds support free youth events throughout the year, so every scream helps fund something positive.

How long has Orange City Sorosis Club's Annual Haunted House been in business? Can you tell us a bit more about Orange City Sorosis Club's Annual Haunted House 's history?

Our Haunted House began in 1978 as a small community project created by Sorosis Club members who wanted to offer a safe, fun Halloween experience for local families. Over the decades, it has grown into a beloved Orange City tradition. Each year volunteers design new rooms, build sets, create characters, and bring the haunt to life from scratch. Generations of families have walked through our doors, and many of our volunteers grew up attending the event themselves. It’s a true hometown haunt with nearly fifty years of history behind it.

What's your favorite experience since opening Orange City Sorosis Club's Annual Haunted House ?

One of our favorite moments happens every year when families return with their children and share stories about attending the haunt decades ago. Seeing parents bring their kids through the same event they enjoyed growing up is incredibly meaningful. We also love watching our high school volunteers experience the joy of scaring people to death - well, not literally!

Over the years, many guests have compared our style to the haunts they enjoy at major theme parks, saying we’re ‘right up there’ in terms of atmosphere and creativity. Hearing that from our community means a lot to us, especially since our Haunted House is built entirely by volunteers. We work hard each season to deliver an experience that feels immersive, exciting, and memorable for families.
