The Devil’s School in Jacksonville
Jacksonville, FL 32204
The Devil's School in Jacksonville (Public School Number Four, Riverside Park School) dates back to 1918 and is listed as a historic landmark since 2000. The abandoned school is considered one of the most haunted places in all of Jacksonville and has been the site of a ton of outrageous urban legends throughout the years. One includes that of a janitor who went crazy and burned students alive in the boiler room and another includes a principal who became a cannibal. The building was allegedly used for satanic rituals after it closed down in 1960.
Other legends that surround the school suggest that it was built on an old Timaquan burial ground. Another legend suggests a portal to hell in the basement and another behind the stage. Some say that the paranormal activity that takes place can be be attributed to the "psychic dust", a sort of psychic imprint, that had been left as a result of years of energetic children.
