The Lively Building
Tallahassee, FL 32301
This building was once The Leon Bar and it operated from 1892-1904. It was a popular gathering spot for the roughest kinds of people, causing there to be many shootings and murders on the premises. The City passed an ordinance in 1904 that outlawed the sale of alcohol within the city limits, effectively putting The Leon out of business. Today, rumor has it that some of the "crackers" (slang for the cowboys who were often at the bar, so named for the whips they used to corral the cattle) are still on the premises in spirit.
